On Monday December 3, 5th graders in Mrs. Ellis' class had visitors from the Wesleyan Society of Physics. Three students came in to do their end of the semester presentations. Students brought in two different sized speakers. Each speaker had high and low frequency settings. Wesleyan students discussed with 5th graders how vibrations (waves) worked. Students got to see various experiments where Wesleyan students put things such as water, sugar, sugar with ketchup and rice into the speakers. As the frequency was adjusted, students observed the different effects the sound waves had on the different objects. It was an amazing presentation!
